40-Hour HAZWOPER Training Course Details
This state-of-the-art online HAZWOPER Train-the-Trainer course will cover in detail the regulatory and training requirements of the Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response (29 CFR 1910.120) standard. Designed to equip cleanup and emergency response personnel with the critical skills needed to safely navigate a wide range of hazardous substance incidents, HAZWOPER training serves as the cornerstone of worksite safety compliance. OSHA states that a measure of the competence of an instructor is the successful completion of a train-the-trainer program with training and experience specific to the topics they will teach. This 40-hour HAZWOPER training online course meets the Appendix E HAZWOPER training requirements. Practical training must also be obtained to qualify yourself to meet the ‘experiential’ requirements of the standard.

Continuing Education Units
(4) CEUs are offered for this course. As an IACET Accredited Provider, NASP offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. CEUs will be reflected on the Certificate upon successful completion of the course and passing the exam. Partial credit or adjusted CEUs will not be awarded for individuals who do not successfully meet the criteria for achievement of CEUs.
Online Exams
The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course. You must score 80% to receive certification. You have two opportunities to pass the exam.
Recertification
A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $495.

The NASP HAZWOPER Train-the-Trainer online course is $1,995.00. NASP Premium Members receive a discounted rate of $1,795.00. A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $495.
To earn your 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate through NASP, you must complete the online Train-the-Trainer course, which consists of 16 courses totaling 40 hours of instruction. Upon completing the coursework, you will take a comprehensive online exam and must score 80% or higher to receive your certificate. You will have two opportunities to pass the exam. Upon completion, you will also earn 4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which will be reflected on your certificate. Please note that practical, hands-on training must also be completed to satisfy the experiential requirements of the HAZWOPER standard (29 CFR 1910.120).
40-hour HAZWOPER training is training required under OSHA’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response standard, 29 CFR 1910.120, for certain workers involved in hazardous waste operations, cleanup activities, and emergency response operations where hazardous substances may be present. The training helps prepare workers and safety professionals to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards associated with hazardous substances and hazardous waste operations.
The NASP online HAZWOPER Train-the-Trainer course covers key regulatory and training requirements of the HAZWOPER standard, including topics such as toxicology, personal protective equipment (PPE), chemical hazard communication, spill control, emergency response procedures, and the Incident Command System.
Upon successful completion, qualified students may use this course as part of their professional preparation to conduct HAZWOPER-related training in the subject areas for which they have the appropriate knowledge, experience, and instructional competency. This may include training topics related to General Site Worker training, HAZMAT emergency response, and hazardous materials awareness, as applicable to the trainer’s qualifications and employer requirements.
The NASP HAZWOPER Train-the-Trainer certificate is valid for three (3) years. After that period, a certificate refresher course and exam will be required to maintain your certificate. The cost of renewing a certificate is $495.00.
