Job Title: Safety Technician

Reports To: Safety Supervisor / Project Manager

Location: Field Based

Job Summary: The Safety Technician is a hands‑on, field‑based safety role responsible for supporting daily jobsite safety operations. This position works directly with craft workers, supervisors, and contractors to promote safe work practices, conduct toolbox talks, verify required documentation, and assist with hazard identification and incident prevention. The Safety Technician is a visible safety presence on the jobsite and plays a key role in maintaining compliance with company safety programs and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Field Safety Support & Observation

  • Maintain a consistent safety presence on active job sites
  • Observe work activities to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors
  • Stop work and notify supervision when imminent hazards are identified
  • Assist crews with identifying hazards and selecting appropriate controls
  • Support implementation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safe work plans

2. Toolbox Talks & Daily Safety Communication

  • Conduct and document daily or weekly toolbox talks
  • Ensure toolbox talks are relevant to current job activities
  • Encourage employee participation and questions during safety discussions
  • Track attendance and ensure sign‑in sheets are completed and submitted
  • Reinforce company safety expectations and site‑specific rules

3. Documentation & Compliance Support

  • Verify required safety documentation is completed prior to work, including:
  • Job Safety Analyses (JSAs/JHAs)
  • Permits (hot work, confined space, lockout/tagout, etc.)
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Maintain organized job site safety files (Procore or hard copy)
  • Assist with submission and tracking of safety paperwork

4. Inspections & Hazard Identification

  • Perform routine job-site safety inspections and observations
  • Identify housekeeping, PPE, equipment, and access issues
  • Communicate findings to supervision and safety leadership
  • Assist in tracking and closing corrective actions
  • Support pre‑task planning and work‑area walkthroughs

5. Training & Employee Support

  • Assist with new hire site safety and equipment training
  • Support supervisors in reinforcing safety expectations

Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Safety‑related coursework or certifications (OSHA 30)
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction, industrial, or manufacturing environments preferred
  • Field experience working alongside craft labor strongly desire

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of OSHA and construction safety requirements
  • Ability to recognize common job site hazards
  • Familiarity with JSAs, toolbox talks, and permit systems
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and document accurately
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in active industrial environments

Soft Skills

  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact positively with craft workers and supervisors
  • Willingness to remind employees of safety expectations
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment

  • Field‑based role requiring daily presence on active jobsites
  • Exposure to construction equipment, noise, weather, and industrial processes
  • Use of required PPE at all times
  • May require early mornings, extended hours, or weekend work based on project needs
