National Safety Month, observed every June, is an initiative led by the National Safety Council (NSC) to promote safety awareness and prevent injuries and fatalities in workplaces, on roads, and in communities across the United States. In 2025, the campaign emphasizes four weekly themes, each focusing on a critical aspect of safety:

Week 1 (June 1–7): Continuous Improvement

This week highlights the importance of ongoing evaluation and enhancement of safety protocols. Organizations are encouraged to assess their current safety measures, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to foster a proactive safety culture. Emphasizing continuous improvement ensures that safety practices evolve to meet emerging challenges and technologies.

Week 2 (June 8–14): Employee Engagement

Engaging employees in safety initiatives is crucial for creating a collaborative and accountable work environment. This week’s focus is on involving employees in safety planning, encouraging open communication about hazards, and recognizing contributions to workplace safety. Active participation from all staff members leads to more effective safety outcomes.

Week 3 (June 15–21): Roadway Safety

With many employees commuting or driving as part of their job, roadway safety is a significant concern. This week addresses safe driving practices, the dangers of distracted or impaired driving, and the implementation of policies to promote transportation safety. Organizations can use this time to review and reinforce their driving safety programs.

Week 4 (June 22–30): Wellbeing

Recognizing that overall well-being impacts safety, the final week focuses on mental health, stress management, and achieving a healthy work-life balance. Promoting employee well-being contributes to a more attentive, resilient, and productive workforce. Initiatives may include providing access to mental health resources, encouraging regular breaks, and fostering a supportive workplace culture.

To support these themes, the NSC offers a variety of resources, including safety talks, posters, and webinars, accessible through their official website. Organizations are encouraged to utilize these materials to enhance their safety programs and engage employees throughout the month.
