Certified Petroleum Safety Manager (PSM) - Refineries, Plants, & Petroleum Storage Facilities Safety

Course Objectives:


The NASP Certification Petroleum Safety Manager – Refineries, Plants, Storage Safety indicates a management level of operational skills and proficiency covering rules, regulations, and tools that are critical to safety throughout this vast, diversified, and complex industry. A wide range of expertise and managerial skills required to constantly update procedures, verify compliance, and continually improve operational performance is presented. This course provides the student with the knowledge and expertise to remain current with regulations, protocols, and new industry standards for safely building, operating, and maintaining petroleum and petroleum derivative plants and facilities.

Learning Outcome:


The student will function as a key safety team director in responsible charge of comprehensive safety and regulatory compliance initiatives for refineries, petrochemical plants, and storage facilities during construction, operation, and maintenance. This individual will control training, reporting, analysis, and assign responsibility for job safety and worker compliance for all employees and subcontractors and will serve as point of reception and implementation with regard to ever changing regulatory requirements. The student will serve as an effective manager of regulatory change and and an onsite director who works to assure compliance.

Course Prerequisites :


Completion of NASP Certified Petroleum Safety Specialist - Refineries, Plants, & Petroleum Storage Facilities Safety course is a prerequisite for this course.

Online Exams :


The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course.  You must score 80% to receive certification.  You have three opportunities to pass the exam.

Optional Credits:


The estimated time required to complete the course is 40 hours, but can be done at the student's own pace. Four (4) CEUs are offered through the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for this course. Recertification:
