Ways To Join the IASP or NASP
Individual Membership
Individual Membership in the IASP/NASP includes:
- Official Certificate of Membership for framing.
- Official Membership wallet card.
- Indicates your professional affiliation on your resume.
- Access to the IASP/NASP Members Only area of this website. You'll have access to a wide variety of safety related data that will assist you in research, development of training programs, budget preparation, and other duties. This area presently contains complete narrative explanations of OSHA's 44 most important topics including charts and graphics. New materials and data are added to this area often.
- Free listing in the IASP/NASP Consultant's Registry - list your name, address, and areas of specialization and when we're asked, we will recommend the closest member with the requested specialization.
- The IASP/NASP News Publication, "The Safety Sentinel" which is designed to provide an accurate and concise appraisal of current safety issues in a quick, concise, and ready to use format for the busy safety director/manager.
- Resume reference: Any member may list the IASP or NASP as a professional reference on resumes and applications. Those desiring this service should submit a resume to the IASP/NASP. IASP/NASP staff will then verify the resume and provide third party validation of the knowledge, skills, abilities, ad experience of the member when called upon by a potential employer.
- The opportunity to be a part of the most progressive and effective Safety Association in the US.
- Opportunity to serve as an IASP/NASP Training Coalition Coordinator. Training Coalition Coordinators organize safety in their areas to be taught by the IASP/NASP. For example, one member recently had 5 employees they needed to send to a HAZWOPER refresher course which would normally cost their company $175.00 each, plus travel expenses. The member contacted other area safety directors until they located an additional fifteen students. By doing so, all employers who participated in this "coalition" paid only $95.00 per student and eliminated travel expense by holding the class locally. The Training Coalition Coordinator earns 10% of the tuition which may be paid directly to the Coordinator, used to reduce the tuition for the Coordinator's students, or used to subsidize an IASP/NASP scholarship, at the Coordinator's discretion.
- Opportunity to serve as an IASP/NASP Trainer or Consultant. Those members attaining the STS Registration may apply to serve as IASP/NASP trainers in their local areas. Those attaining the SPS Registration and the SCA Certification may apply to serve as IASP/NASP consultants in their local areas.
- Opportunity to Attend Regional IASP/NASP Conferences.
- Access to quality resident training courses which have been reviewed and approved by the IASP/NASP.
- Access to quality independent study courses which have been reviewed and approved by the IASP/NASP.
- Access to quality and affordable comprehensive training, planning, and assessment materials/aids that have been reviewed by the IASP/NASP.
- Assistance to members who face civil or criminal liability: When any IASP/NASP Board Certified Specialist is sued or criminally charged, the IASP/NASP will provide an expert witness to provide testimony attesting to the Specialist's qualifications as demonstrated in the acquisition of their certification. No charge is made for this service. Your employer will only be required to pay the actual travel and per diem for the expert witness.
- Assistance to members seeking new employment opportunities.
- An opportunity for like minded safety professionals to gain a powerful voice, by weight of numbers, in the promulgation of safety regulations, and in developing new and innovative methods of ensuring workplace safety.
- Discounts on safety products offered by venders to IASP/NASP members.
- Information available in a quick, concise, and ready to use format for the busy safety director/manager.
