Forming a Chapter of the IASP/NASP
At the request of the membership, the IASP and NASP Board of Directors recently approved the Chartering of local and regional IASP and NASP Chapters. In accordance with the Board's resolution:
The purpose of a Chapter of the IASP/NASP is to promote improvements in workplace safety, to provide support and encouragement to those responsible for workplace safety management, training, and planning, and to encourage the recognition of workplace safety as an ethical responsibility to both employer and employee. The Chapter will have the following objectives within the geographical area it represents:
- To provide support, encouragement, advice, and assistance to the members of the Chapter.
- To develop and/or promote educational programs in support of those responsible for workplace safety.
- To develop and/or disseminate information that will carry out the purposes of the Chapter and the IASP/NASP.
- To provide and/or support forums for the acquisition and interchange of professional knowledge among its members.
- To foster liaison with local business and industry.
- To inaugurate and implement other programs that are consistent with the purposes of the Chapter and the IASP/NASP.
- To conduct its affairs in a manner that will reflect the standards, purposes, and objectives of the IASP/NASP.
- To represent its region and members to the national office of the IASP/NASP.
